Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Psychology! I hope you have as much fun learning in this class as I have teaching it. Psychology offers a window into not only the thinking and behavior of those people around you but also ourselves. It is still a relatively young science and there is much to learn still. Since this course is an introduction, I truly hope you pursue more classes in Psychology later in your academic career.
For now, tell me why you are taking this class. What are your goals for this class? What do you hope to learn?

ReplyDeleteI'm taking this class because i am interested on why people ac the way they do. i want to find out why people act differently when they are with certain people or people they don't know. I'm interested in why everyone's behavior is different as well as the way we think. my goals for this class is to pass with an A and leave knowing i have a good understnading on the actions of others. I hope to learn more about people and their variety of aspects along with the differences of all people. Basically the reason people act the way they do and everyone's differences.

ReplyDeleteAs a senior I was looking for interesting classes that wouldn't interrupt my application process to college. Psychology was a class I had heard a lot about from many different students. This class seemed like it would be a fun class and would have different types of activities. Also I am going into physical therapy for a career and I will be interacting with all different types of people and instead of focusing on how smelly their feet are I may think back to my high school class and say well their feet may smell because they have this type of personality. I don't expect to learn why people have smelly feet but I would like to know why we choose to dress the way we do or why we choose the lifestyle we do. Another topic that is interesting to me is that fact that there are different personalities that go along with different regions of the world including in the united states. I am attending East Carolina University next year and it is a completely different culture than what we have in Rhode Island. In general, people seem to be much more personable and able to interact with strangers easily. I would like to know if your personality is changed by different aspects and why we are forever in that state of mind. People have different personalities when something tragic happens like if they were raped or they grew up without parents. I would like to know why our personalities are forever changed and somehow "set in stone" it doesn't seem like many people can change the personality that they have created since birth. And if it is possible to change your personality how do you do that? and does it take a lot of effort? Overall I see myself coming out of this class with a basic understanding of humans and how we act so that if i choose to do so I could further research the things that interested me.

ReplyDeleteI decided to take this class because I thought it would be very interesting. I had heard from several other students that Psychology with Yip was really fun and the material was fascinating. I was initially going to take AP Psychology, but I decided this class would be a better fit for me. I want to do good in this class and I hope to learn more about why people do what they do. Also, I am excited for the dream journals because I’ve always wanted to know what my dreams meant. When I graduate college, I plan on working in the marketing field, and psychology is involved with advertising in the business world. I also know that most college students have to take a psych course, so I will have a good idea of what to expect. I'm looking forward to this semester!
I chose to enroll in Psychology because I have always wondered why people do what they do, what goes on inside their brains that causes them to do what they do and I heard that this class was a lot of fun. In addition, I have always been interested in figuring out what some of my dreams mean, and in this course we record and analyze some of our dreams, and thus would answer my curiousity. ReplyDeleteI chose to take this class, because I thought it would be interesting to learn more about human behavior and learn why we do the things that we do. I have really bizarre dreams that my family thinks are really weird, and I would love to know what they mean. I really think that I will learn a lot of new things in this class, and I am looking forward to it. I just hope that there isn't too much homework, because that would stink. I am excited about all the things I will learn about myself this semester.

ReplyDeleteI decided to take Psychology because i want to learn why people behave the way they do. I am looking to major in Criminal Justice in college, and having a background in understanding the concepts of the human mind and why people act certain ways, may be beneficial in my career. This class is different then any other class the high school may offer, because everyone can relate to it. We all have different personalities that make up who we are, and this class explains where those traits come from. Im looking forward to this class, as well as our last highschool semester. Sorry about the Cardinals Zak.

ReplyDeleteI decided to take this class for a number of reasons. I have an interest in the reasons behind human behavior because naturally I'm a curious person. I want to know more about myself and others in the ways of who we are and why we act differently in certain situations. There are things I'e come across in and out of school I feel I can learn more about in this class, such as symbolism in dreams. I'm also looking for an area of studies I would be willing to persue in college. I'm curious about many things but I have yet to cross a major that holds my interest.
From what I've heard from my friends and classmates, this class was fun and interesting with a lot to offer in understanding the human mind. So I'm hoping to get as much as I can out of this class.
Well I'm taking this class because I was interested in learning about human behavior. I always wondered what makes certain individuals do what they do, and I thought this would be the perfect class to learn about it. As far as goals go, I'm just going to try and do my best in the class and learn as much as possible.

I have always wondered why people act the way they do, do the things they do and how they live their daily lives. Psychology seems like it would be a very fun class to take and I've heard much about it. I hope I get to learn interesting facts about individuals interaction.

ReplyDeleteI have chosen to take Physchology because I am very interested in learning the scientific study of mental functions and behavior. Not only will I learn new and interesting facts, but I will be able to apply these concepts to every day life. My goal is to hopefully expand my awareness of cultural and gender influences and provide a clear explanation to physchological studies in our world today. I hope to learn a substantial amount of info dealing with the practical insights about behavior and the mental processes.

ReplyDeleteThe main reason I chose to take this class was because I have always had an interest in things that pertained to science. The study of the human brain and how people act and why, are things I would really like to learn about. Things that make me do what I do would be cool to learn about and so far I've really enjoyed this class and hope to continue to enjoy it (which I'm sure I will.
I am taking this class mostly to understand why some people act the way they do and I also want to know if there's a reason for the way I act. I hope to learn more about society in general and what drives certain people to act the way they do because I sometimes can't understand peoples reasoning for acting a certain way. I've also heard from other students that it was a fun and interesting class to take.

I also want to know why i think a certain way and also why girls think certain ways. My goals for the future in this class are to learn as much as possible about psyhcology and try and use the info i learnrd in here to benifit my future

ReplyDeleteA wise Jim Baldwin once told me that the most important class to take and pay attention to in any school at any level is history, for, "those who do not study it tend to repeat it." On a similar note, I feel it is important to understand the mentality that the greatest figures in history have had, for if people begin to mask the actions and behaviors that such great figures have undergone, they themselves can be outstanding citizens. For this reason, I feel it is important to understand psychology and the neurological process that these remarkable figures (both for good and for bad) went through so I myself may follow behaviors of those before me that have been successful and also stray away from the psychology behind those that acted immorally. These are the reasons I selected this class and these are the goals that I hope to reach this semester.
At the end of my junior yea when I had to pick my classes for my senior year, my only core subjects I would be taking, I realized, was English and Physics. The following year I wanted to take a challenging elective, not one that would just “fluff up” my schedule. I was sick of the same old business and computer electives so one teacher suggested I try Psychology. I was immediately interested in taking this class after I heard from past students how fun it could be. I think I will learn a lot in this class. I am hoping to learn why we think the way we do and how that causes us to take certain actions in life. From my understanding, Psychology has to do with the mind and why people think a certain way. I am pretty excited, as I walked out of class my first day, I knew I would be learning a lot and found myself very interested in this topic.

ReplyDeleteI had chosen this class because one it goes hand in hand with my major in college, and it also has been a big buzz through the school that it was a good class to take. So at the end of last year i decided to take it and see what i would learn. I would like to learn what people do in a terrorized or scared state of mind. And my goal of course is to get an "A" in the class that way i wouldnt have to take the exam. Also i would like to gain knowledge of many famous psychologist.
I decided to take this class because I was always curious to know what makes us think and how things are connected when it comes to our thought processes. so far this year all the information we have gone over has been hard to memorize the material but I enjoy it andfind it very interesting.

ReplyDeletei took this class because i like exploring the mind and its capabilities, my older cousin just graduated with a degree in childrens psychology and is constantly having conversations with me about people like freud and such, i always feel out of place so this common knowlege will allow me to easier communicate with her and she would be quite impressed by my knowlege depending on how much i actually learn in the class.
